Junior Summer Camp offers a unique opportunity for young people to discover and explore their creative talent and potential through the exciting medium of fashion. The 2025 edition, entitled Fashion Design Art Lab, will focus on exploring fashion as a way of expression, enabling every participant to unleash their imagination and experience their creative identity by connecting their cultural backgrounds with the world of art and fashion.
The course will guide students through a four-step process.
The first step focuses on bidimensional methodologies. Students will explore different design techniques and mediums, getting inspiration from artists and designers by utilizing the extensive resources available at Polimoda. They will then express their ideas through mood boards, illustrations, collages, etc.
The second step involves working with mannequins to explore the infinite possibilities of tridimensional shapes. The young designers will experiment with shapes, draping, pleats, and other fabric manipulation techniques. During the work process, participants will have access to all the necessary materials and technical support needed to bring their ideas to life.
The third step introduces participants to the importance of details: materials, textures, colors, prints, and embroideries, as well as styling and identity. This is also a moment to connect all the steps together in a mini collection.
Finally, the last step is to create a portfolio of their work, including illustrations and pictures. After reflecting on the importance of storytelling and communication in fashion, participants will create their own book—a visual “playlist” to convey their vision of fashion and the world around them.
The program consists of lessons and practical work focused on various aspects of fashion and is taught by a Polimoda teacher and educators who have experience in children’s training courses. Our well-balanced teacher-to-participant ratio ensures that each child receives individual attention and support, enabling us to meet their unique needs throughout the program.
All proceeds from the camp will be dedicated to supporting charitable causes that help individuals and communities worldwide overcome social barriers and realize their full potential. Our commitment to making a positive impact is unwavering, and we will ensure that the funds raised contribute significantly to empowering those in need.

This course is aimed at young people willing to express their creativity through the language of fashion.
Outcomes
At the end of this course, students will have their first portfolio, comprising a collection of exercises that showcase their personal interests and skills.
Program
Day 1: Fashion and Identity
- Introduction to the relationship between fashion and art.
- Activities: Creating a visual map of personal identity and experimenting with visual representation techniques to design garments and accessories.
Day 2: Body and Shape
- Exploration of the relationship between form and the body.
- Experimentation on a mannequin using a variety of techniques and materials.
Day 3: Style and Creativity
- Continued work on the mannequin.
- Fashion illustration and initial designs on paper.
Day 4: Details
- Manipulation of materials: working with color palettes, prints, embroidery, and other techniques.
- Development of a capsule collection.
Day 5: Presentation
- Completion of the project.
- Preparation and final presentation.
Schedule
The Junior Summer Camp is an engaging and fun-filled program that runs for five full days, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. each day.
The daily activities are as follows:
- 8:30 am – 9:00 am: Warm welcome to participants
- 9:00 am – 1:00 pm: Fashion Workshop, Creative Arts & Play session, and snack break
- 1:00 pm – 2:00 pm: Lunch at Polimoda and socializing time
- 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm: Fashion Workshop
- 4:00 pm – 4:30 pm: Snack break and end-of-day activities
Requirements
Application requirements are:
- Proficiency in English or Italian (Spanish is also accepted)
- 10–13 years old
